John Palmesino
John Palmesino is an architect and urbanist, Born in Switzerland. He has lead the researches at ETH Studio Basel–Contemporary City Institute between 2003 and 2007.He has co-founded multiplicity, an international research network involved in contemporary architecture, urbanism, arts and general culture. Main works include MUTATIONS, USE uncertain States of Europe, Solid Sea. multiplicity’s works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, at the KW Berlin, at the Triennale di Milano and at documenta11. He is the initiator of the interdisciplinary research on neutrality as a modality of spatial transformation and control for his PhD at the Research Architecture Centre, Goldsmiths, University of London, where he also teaches. Bio
John Palmesino is an architect and urbanist. His researches and projects deal with the material transformation patterns of the contemporary territories. He is co-founder of PALMESINO RÖNNSKOG Territorial Agency, a practice involved in the management of international innovative transformations of the contemporary inhabited landscape and its architecture. Territorial Agency has developed the Markermeer Plan, an integrated vision for the future of the Markermeer, in the Netherlands. After the 'Unfinishable Markermeer' plan developed in 2005, the Markermeer Plan addresses a plurality of environmental, architectural, planning, and policy issues in a collaborative environment with a large team of experts from different fields. He led the researches of ETH Studio Basel–Contemporary City Institute and is a founding member of multiplicity, a research network dealing with contemporary architecture, urbanism, arts and general culture. He is currently researching on the implications of neutrality in the relation between polities and territorial and architectural transformations. (© Roundtable: Research Architecture)
Bio
Anselm Franke is a curator and writer based in Brussels and Berlin. He is the Artistic Director of Extra City Center for Contemporary Art in Antwerp, and he was a co-curator of Manifesta 7 in Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy, in 2008 (Trento). Previously, Franke acted as curator of KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin until 2006, where he organized exhibitions such as Territories. Islands, Camps and Other States of Utopia (2003); Image Archives (2001/2002); The Imaginary Number (2005, together with Hila Peleg), and B-Zone – Becoming Europe and Beyond (2006) and he co-developed the project No Matter How Bright the Light, the Crossing Occurs At Night (2006). He has edited and published various publications and is a contributor to magazines such as Metropolis M, Piktogram, and Cabinet. (© Roundtable: Research Architecture)
Bio - Eyal Weizman
Eyal Weizman is an architect; director of the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, and of the ERC funded research project Forensic Architecture. Since 2007 he is a founding member of the architectural collective DAAR in Beit Sahour/Palestine www.decolonizing.ps. Weizman has taught, lectured, curated and organised conferences in many institutions worldwide. His books include The Least of all Possible Evils [Nottetempo 2009, Verso 2011], Hollow Land [Verso, 2007], A Civilian Occupation [Verso, 2003], the series Territories 1,2 and 3, Yellow Rhythms and many articles in journals, magazines and edited books. Weizman is a regular contributor and an editorial board member for several journals and magazines including Humanity, Cabinet and Inflexions. He has worked with a variety of NGOs world wide and was member of B'Tselem board of directors. www.btselem.org. Weizman is the recipient of the James Stirling Memorial Lecture Prize for 2006-2007, a co-recipient of the 2010 Prince Claus Prize for Architecture [for DAAR] and has been nominated to deliver the Paul Hirst and the Edward Said Memorial Lectures amongst others. Bio - Edgar Schmitz
Edgar Schmitz is an artist, the co-director of A Conversation in Many Parts, an international discursive platform for contemporary art and concepts, and a lecturer in Critical Studies at Goldsmiths. Recent exhibitions include British Art Show 7 – In The Days of the Comet, Hayward Gallery and touring (2010/11), extra added bonus material, FormContent (2010), Dictionary of War, Steirischer Herbst Graz (2006); A-C-A-D-E-M-Y, Vanabbemuseum Eindhoven (2006); and Liam Gillick: ‘Edgar Schmitz’, ICA London (2005). He has also written extensively on contemporary art, with contributions to Kunstforum international, Texte zur Kunst and artforum as well as contemporary, tema celeste and numerous catalogue essays, including texts on Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Phil Collins, on Brian Jungen’s animalities, on humour in Deleuze and Slominski, and on Sarah Morris’ LA.
